So this is what Stephenie said in a chat with twilight moms back in 2007.

I know seven years have passed since then, and maybe Stephenie’s plans have changed, I just want you to help me decode what she says. Because what I understand is that she had had some ideas for two more (twilight) books that we don’t know about, but maybe it’s only that my English is not helping me understand the true meaning of her words…

TM: Do you think you will write more in the Twilight series? I have a minor crush on Jasper. I just find him adorable, in a Matt Damon in Bourne kind of way.

Steph: I can't say for sure. Right now, I'm seriously burned out on vampires, and I still have Midnight Sun to go. Plus there is all kinds of behind the scene publishing politics with this series that sucks some of the fun out.

But could I really leave them behind for good? Probably not. I assume that after some recovery time, I'll revisit the Twilight universe. I have a detailed outline for a fifth book, and I finally figured out how I'd end book six.

I say I'm burned out on vampires, but what have I been working on this weekend? Vampires When I need to recharge, sometime I write stuff for fun. So I'm working on an Eclipse extra that tells the story from the newborns' perspective. Specifically from Bree's pov. It's really fun! I got to say "junkie ho"!

I know she said in interviews on the BD Pt 2 DVD that she wasn't sure she'd put the characters away completely, but she's also said at other times since this interview that she is sick of vampires at the moment, particularly after her heavy involvement in the two BD movies. I understand she was intending to write a sequel to The Host and there was talk about her doing a story about cannibal mermaids. I don't think we'll get another Twilight book in a while and if we do, I WANT MIDNIGHT SUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thought I'd come and post here after reading the disappointing news that the only new thing we seem to be getting for the 10th anniversary of Twilight is a gender-bending retelling of the story.

I'm not the least bit interested in reading something like that. While I would like Midnight Sun, I would have also been happy with some nice previously unseen scenes with Bella and Edward. If this is all there is, I will be monumentally disappointed. It seems a waste of time to write something like that. I won't be buying it.

I'm still in the slack jawed, "WHAT???" stage. :swoon:

While I haven't exactly rushed out to buy it, I'm glad at least she hasn't given up on writing altogether. I will say that I was hoping for more of the Host or even a new saga of some kind. It will be interesting to hear what others say about the book.

I just can't resist buying books.
So after my initial disappointment (so the author of the book is just giving us her own FanFiction version) I went and bought it today.
Well into chapter three now and liking it so far. Really curious to see where she's taking it.

But definitely agreeing that I would have rather had MS or just new scenes between other main characters.

MOD'S NOTE:

(*clears throat uncertainly*)

Hey everyone! I feel a little weird breaking into Mod mode — very out of the habit of this, y'know? And I apologize for taking two days to notice this convo. Been a bit distracted (it's been a CRAZY couple of days in my RL) or I might have seen it sooner. But...

We've actually got a couple of dedicated Life or Death threads going in a small way. In fact we've got an entire teeny tiny subforum devoted to the book (or fic or extra or whatever it is...). If I'd been a little less rusty, I'd have figured out how to put it somewhere obvious sooner!

But anyway, if it's ok with everyone, it would be great if we could continue this conversation about Life or Death HERE

I'm going to copy the last few posts over there (assuming I can remember how..!)

(*whipping mod's hat back off smartly*)

Can I just say...Hi all!!! It's great to see you. (*waves hullo bemusedly*)
