I'm not positive though. He would want to avenge James, but he would want to die since Bella's dead too. So would he go to the volturi or to kill James first? I think he might have Emmett or somebody kill James, leave a last letter or something that he'd persuade him to do so in then just get killed by the volturi. We're back to the depressing questions

Well, I thought about that too, but Bella specifically told him NOT to avenge James. Of course, it would matter also if he even saw this video. If he didn't James would be dead no question. But if he did see it? Would he have listened to Bella, the last thing she ever asked him to do? Or would he have killed James?
Sorry it's depressing, I just like deep, character-provoking questions and I was thinking about this the other day.

No, he wouldn't have honored her last wish. He'd have avenged her death by killing James and no doubt Victoria too, and then would have done himself in. Which is so sad to think about. He would have lived long enough to make sure the people who hurt Bella paid and then he would pull a Romeo to be with her (or in his mind try to be with her).

I don't think he would have. Especially if he had seen the video.

* Somehow I think if he had walked in on them in the studio, he probably would have killed James in bloodlust (remember; blood frenzy would apply and canon clearly states that they would be overwhelmed by the blood) without the signal really hitting his forebrain that he'd promised not to (besides, what's she going to do about it if he gets his mad on if she's dead?).
* It's likely if he'd gotten the video after the fact (not being present in the blood-filled studio), he would have still killed James, but been a little more methodical (and a lot more guilt-ridden) about it, no matter how hard his family tried to talk him out of it and remind him of his pledge.
* Then, being Edward, he would likely have tried to find a way to off himself out of remorse and loneliness. *rolls eyes* You're loved and all, Edward, but sometimes I think you just need to man up and can the melodrama, you know? Sheesh. *laughing*
