1. Chapter 12 is titled “Some People Just Don’t Grasp the Concept of “Unwelcome;’” who exactly does Jacob mean? Is he just meaning Leah?
Uhm... Yes? :?

2. Leah left the LaPush pack to evade Sam, her emotions for him, and to get him out of her head. Joining the pack to which Seth belonged aside, what other emotions might Leah have been feeling?
Love for her brother, not wanting him to leave 'her'.

3. Jake postulates that Rosalie might be after Bella and Edward's baby on p. 240. What might Rosalie be thinking for the care of the infant after its birth? Is she interested in being its mother? Does she ultimately wish Bella would die?
Rose is selfish, but I don't think she'd wish Bella to die. I do think that she's hoping to take care of the baby for at least the beginning of it's life, since Bella will be a newborn. At this point in the book we still think Bella won't be able to control her blood-thirst whilst being a newborn.

4. Maternal instinct is a very powerful emotion. What do you think Esme might have been feeling as Bella's condition deteriorated? Do you think she was concerned about Bella or the baby? What about Alice?
I think both Esme and Alice were concerned about Bella very much. Alice even more cuz she couldn't see Bella's future any more.

5. Rosalie’s newfound attachment to Bella provides for interesting interactions between Rosalie, Edward, and Jacob. What type of alliances may be forming in light of Rosalie’s attitude?
Jacob and Edward against Rose and Bella?

6. Why didn’t anyone, besides Bella or Rosalie, ever ponder that perhaps the fetus could just be a baby? Why did everyone else accept it as fact that the baby was evil?
I don't think they thought the baby was evil. But they all though, no, knew, that the baby was hurting Bella. So the baby had to go.

7. Esme has always been concerned about Edward finding his 'other half'. What thoughts might be running through her mind at the prospect of the Cullen family losing Bella?
I think she's afraid that Edward would come to be alone and be heart-broken for the rest of his life.

Leah, definitely. But i'm sure that also applied to Seth. Jake just really wanted to be alone at this point, torn between his loyalty to the pack and the Cullens. The last thing you want is an underage teenager and an angry ex of Sam's around you.

2. Leah left the LaPush pack to evade Sam, her emotions for him, and to get him out of her head. Joining the pack to which Seth belonged aside, what other emotions might Leah have been feeling?

Relief, i think, more than anything. To get away from all the hurt that Sam inflicter on her could only have done good. And i think she might also have felt confused on where her loyalties lay. The pack was her family and she hates the Cullens. However, she joined Jake's pack to get away from the mess of her own life. I think maybe she wanted to start over.

3. Jake postulates that Rosalie might be after Bella and Edward's baby on p. 240. What might Rosalie be thinking for the care of the infant after its birth? Is she interested in being its mother? Does she ultimately wish Bella would die?

I don't think she *wanted* Bella to die. However there's no doubt in my mind that she would have wanted to become Renesmee's foster mother had Bella died. But a friendship did spring up between Bella and Rose because of the child. It's like Jake pointed out - the reason he thought Edward didn't just kill him was because Jake loved Bella, and Edward could not physically kill anyone, however hated, if that love for Bella was there. Therefore, because Bella loved the child, Rose couldn't help but bond with Bella.

4. Maternal instinct is a very powerful emotion. What do you think Esme might have been feeling as Bella's condition deteriorated? Do you think she was concerned about Bella or the baby? What about Alice?

I reckon Esme was probably the most to suffer, second to Edward over what was happening to Bella. Esme loves so much, that Bella's deterioration was probably tearing her apart, however Esme knows what it's like to love a child to the point that when her own son died, she couldn't bear to live any longer. So i think Esme would be suffering for Bella, but at the same time she understands completely why Bella is causing her to suffer. And it goes without saying that Alice was concerned about Bella as those two share the closest bond in the family, friendship-wise. However i don't think her concern would have been there for the baby. It's like my argument i have for Rose. I do't think, had Bella died, that Alice would have wished death on the child as well - she has morals - however i think she might have grown resentful towards the baby.

5. Rosalie’s newfound attachment to Bella provides for interesting interactions between Rosalie, Edward, and Jacob. What type of alliances may be forming in light of Rosalie’s attitude?

For once we see Edward and Jacob forming an alliance, which was fun to read. When i first read the interactions they had with one another at Rose's expense, i couldn't help but think of them as brothers-in-arms. :)

6. Why didn’t anyone, besides Bella or Rosalie, ever ponder that perhaps the fetus could just be a baby? Why did everyone else accept it as fact that the baby was evil?

Because of what it was doing to Bella. Even i had trouble thinking that the baby was wasn't a monster considering what was happening to her. Plus, both Edward and Carlisle struggle the most over what they are, mainly because they go against their own religious beliefs. I think the others were just so concerned over Bella;s welfare, that nobody spared a thought about the baby.

7. Esme has always been concerned about Edward finding his 'other half'. What thoughts might be running through her mind at the prospect of the Cullen family losing Bella?

Pain. Bella's death would have destroyed her adopted son.
