Morning!

I tried another batch of hot cross buns yesterday, and just like my first attempt this year, they failed. Everything seems to be working as far as the breadmaker goes. They're just not rising. I think my yeast might be a little old. I was going to buy another packet soon anyway so I'm going to pop down and buy one today and see if that makes a difference. If they don't work today, I'll buy hot cross buns for us for Good Friday this year, rather than make them, but it's disappointing I can't get them to work. :(

Do you do anything special at Easter? It's a long weekend over here so a lot of people go away camping and things like that, but we're just staying at home this year.

Hey all,

Busy few days around here! I've found a dentist that has late hours so I went and saw them on Monday night to get a second opinion and they seem much more reasonable than the last woman I saw. Last night Jason and I had dinner with my parents and dyed eggs for Easter. It's silly but we still do it every year! I don't eat eggs and haven't in years but at least I can make Jason's breakfast pretty

If the weather holds up, we're having a yard sale this weekend to get rid of extra stuff and I'm hoping to make a trip down to our local consignment shop to sell some clothes that are still in good condition. Whatever gets rid of the clutter!

Lynne-What else do you guys do for Easter? It's not a big deal in my family since my Dad has worked Sundays for the last ten years but Jason's Mom really enjoys hosting Easter dinner so we'll do that with her. Honestly, I'm so busy with work and preparing to move I have no idea if we'll make it to church or not

Hey there!

Well, yesterday was an annoying day. School holidays start today for two weeks and I was planning to work a couple of days (which my boss was all fine with) and the rest of the time maybe relax a little, especially since last school holidays were so busy because I had four editing jobs!

However, when I arrived at work yesterday morning, there was an email from a client who originally had contacted us about editing her thesis back in February. She decided to send me the file just then, presumably because she'd only just finished it, and said, 'Oh, by the way, I need it back by the 8th of April at the latest, because I've got a deadline.' Usually we give our clients a minimum of three weeks' turnaround time. My boss asked me if I wanted to give the job to someone else, but although I do have another editing job to do for her, that one isn't due for a few weeks and I've nearly finished it anyway, so I said I could do both.

However, I'd forgotten that I'd spoken to another woman weeks ago about doing a private editing job for her. She was supposed to have sent it to me at the beginning of this week, but no, it was on my email when I got home from work! I had to email back and beg her to wait a little longer for it, as I'd originally told her I would have it back to within three weeks. No way that's going to happen with this other editing job AND school holidays at the same time. I had another guy contact me this week about another editing job but I told him there was no way I could do it until after the school holidays (thankfully) but now I've got to try and do both these edits, while still not forgetting the other one I'm already working on. If that guy tells me he needs it earlier I'm in trouble.

Other than that, today's Good Friday and I'm determined to take it easy, at least a little!

Sarah - We don't usually do much for Easter, except go to church. We're going to my in-laws' church this afternoon and we'll be doing something with our church family on Easter Sunday. Hope you get rid of a lot in the yard sale! By the way, did you see the post at HH Sisters on Facebook about Allegiant? Apparently they've made major changes that have upset a lot of people. I'd like to know what those changes were, as I'm not surprised they changed it a lot, given how terrible it was. But it sounds like they've made it worse.

Hey all,

Right now we're waiting to hear what the sellers of our house want to fix for us. There's nothing major just some minor repairs we're trying to get. In the mean time, I've been packing and sorting sorting sorting. I'm amazed at the amount of books and DVDs I've decided to part with but unless I'm sure I'm going to read/re-read it I just don't want to take them with us.

I think I'm pretty set for our yard sale, I just need to load the stuff into my car. Jason got a lot of work done in the garage for me today which I'm so appreciative of.

Lynne-Wow you sound super busy!! Hopefully you can get everything done. I saw the Allegiant thread and I'm not surprised by how awful it is. As soon as I heard there was going to be two movies I wondered how they were going to pad them enough to make two full movies. With THG and TW, we saw different perspectives-Snow and Aro's, which I found interesting. I'm really curious to know what changes were made!

Happy Easter!

It's Easter Sunday here and we're having a quiet get-together with a couple of families from our church this morning. Then we're going to have hot cross buns! The batch of buns I did on Friday was the best I've done yet. I was really pleased with how well they came out. I'm going well on the first editing job; I've managed to find a few hours to work so far, so I'm confident I'll get everything done.

Sarah - It's hard when you move, isn't it? That's where the rubber really hits the road and you have to be as brutal as possible so you don't have so much to transport to the new house.

Hey all,

My yard sale didn't go very well, other than the fact I was able to find even more to donate. It was still fun to hang out with my Mom and she's letting me store all the stuff I still want to sell when we have another one closer to the summer. I think that it's Easter weekend and the start of spring break and it's not really yard sale season here yet is why I only made a dollar

Jason and I went to dinner and ended up buying new phones because our contract is almost up and we plan on reselling our phones on eBay when the new ones come in. It was nice to get out and not focus on house stuff for a while.

Lynne-I'm so glad your buns came out well!! When we first got married, we ended up moving twice in two years so we weren't really good at purging when we needed to. This time we're really focused on purging and making a nice new pretty house :)

I put a reply up yesterday but it seems to have gone! Bummer.

Anyway, we had a great day on Easter Sunday. We went up to a nearby hill with a few people from church to re-enact the women finding the empty tomb after Jesus rose from the dead. Then we came back to our place for coffee and treats.

Yesterday a friend of mine had an Easter party at her place so Little Man and I went to that (Hubby was working). It was a lot of fun. She usually goes all out, and she did on this occasion. There was so much food! Little Man also participated in the Easter egg hunt and came home with two bags of chocolate eggs.

Now it's school holidays and I have to find a way to keep Little Man amused. Today's easy, so that's good. In fact, this week is pretty much sorted, except for Friday. Next week I'll have to put on my thinking cap.

Sarah - I'm sorry to hear that your yard sale didn't go very well. Yes, it might be better to wait until there are no holidays and try again.

Hey all,

Easter was a quiet one but good. We had dinner with Jason's family and thankfully there was no drama this time which is always nice. We live streamed Easter service, just to avoid the crowd, and I'm really hoping we'll get back to actually going once tax season is over and I'm not working as much.

This week looks to be quiet, just continuing to work and pack while we try to relax now and then too. I'm in the midst of Jon Cryer's bio which has completely grabbed me. That's the trouble with me and books, I tend to get hooked and don't want to stop reading!!

Lynne-oh your Easter sounds wonderful :) I'm so glad you had a good time! Good luck with LM this week, how's the editing going?

Hey there!

Today Little Man has a friend coming over so that should keep him amused for the morning, while I get some work done. Yesterday was an 'at home' day too, apart from grocery shopping, so that was good. It's nice not to have to race all over the place all the time on holidays.

Sarah - yes, I've managed to get all that thesis done, although I want my boss to look at it before I send it back. It was good that Hubby had some time off on the weekend, so that gave me the opportunity to get a lot done. Hopefully I'll get some done on my other job today, and Little Man's going to his grandparents' place tomorrow, so that gives me more time. It's always good to find time for reading, isn't it? :)

Hey all,

No house updates, just still doing a little around here at a time. I feel like all I do is clean!! I've put Mockingjay part 2 on my phone and listened to that through my final clean and I still love it. I think the people who complained about Lionsgate being greedy never read the book. Clearly they were being greedy with Allegiant and it backfired majorly, hee hee. I'm still not over that haha.

Lynne-Glad you're finding time for a work/life balance. That's where I struggle!
