Imagine what would have happened if Eric had turned up at Charlie's too! That could have got messy . . . maybe I would have needed to break up a fight - one of them could go to the prom with me!
I'm assuming Tyler didn't go to the prom after Edward, ahh, had a word with him, right?

I laughed hysterically when Tyler called on prom night.

when I watched the movie, I couldn't help my laughs
on the scene where Tyler kept on apologizing, it looked exactly like the scene in my head when i read the book.
