Favorite Shout Out

There are a lot of pop culture references in Bree Tanner, moreso than any other Twilight book from The Hulk, to Ninjas, to Spiderman. Which was your favorite and why?

Mine was the shout out to author Shannon Hale, who is a friend of Stephenie's. It's mentioned that Bree just finished reading her way through the Hale section in the YA section of the bookstore.

I loved how some of the vampires liked playing video games. For some reason, it just caught me so off gaurd. Can you imagine?! It makes me wonder if they just would beat it at the first time they played or if they actually would die in the game.

I forgot that was her friend Shannon Hale. Wonder if that is how she got Rosealie's last name.

It shocked me that the "bad" vampires liked to do regular things, like read, listen to music etc. I don't know why, but I never expected that at all

I liked the secret ninja club part. I thought that was cute!

Ninjas and the constant video game playing by the newborns.

I bet I can name their favorite games too:
Call Of Duty- Modern Warfare (more killing of innocent humans, yes?)
Halo (lots of blood and boom boom)
Gears of War
Metal Gear Solid
Mortal Kombat
And basically any other goretastic shooter you can think of. None of those sissy strategy/RPG games for vampires!

I still think the ninjas are going to be most displeased about being used in such a... bleh of a book.

"Riley and the Cheeseburger of Pain". It's one of Bree's wry asides as she's trading life-stories with Diego. Page 32 in the UK edition; not sure about the American edition. Made me laugh out loud when I read it: vintage Stephenie!

I also loved that the newborns still enjoyed the typical human pastimes! I suppose that they are mostly teenagers so I guess it fits, eh? :)
