How old was Jamie? Because I figured he was between 7 and 10.

JAMIE !!!!!!
i love jamie. I think that the relationship between him and Wanda hasn't changed because he was one of the few people who saw them as Wanda and Melanie, two different people. He is really sweet and caring. he was also really grown up about everything even though he has lived part of his childhood in horror due to the soul invasion he has endured everything pretty well for a teenager. He is srong charactered when necessary but has the gift of always putting a smile on your face :D

Jamie is 13. I'm pretty sure about this since I've read the book like a million times, but I could be wrong because my mind's all jumbled up right now. :D

EDIT: Sorry! Actually, Jamie is 14. In The Host on page 164 it says:

"...Could he really be so old? I realized with a double pang of guilt that I'd just missed his fourteenth birthday. Melanie showed me the day, and I saw that it was the same day as the first dream with Jamie..."

I think Jamie was amazing. He was really the only one to understand both Mel and Wanda at the same time. I think he was also a big part of the foundation for the other charecters. He did so much. He was a big help to Wanda and also understood his place in everything else. He was just so awsome! One of my favorite charecters.

I think the reason why Jamie was able to love both Wanda and Melanie for who they were as individuals was because he is young enough to keep an open mind. It's easier for a 14 year old to accept that the alien sharing a body with his sister isn't going to turn them in because he is still young enough not to have been hardened by the war, so to speak. It took everyone else so long to accept Wanda because, thanks to their situation, they're naturally suspicious. But thanks to Jamie's age and good influences, he tries to look for the real person, not just a stereotype made for protection.

Is it just me, or did Jamie seem to remind you of Seth... alot?

Oh yeah! Jamie is a lot like Seth! I never thought about that comparison before this.

I Agree. I love both Jamie and Seth they remind me of my brother! Their both so innocent and good natured and a lot smarter than some of the older people in the books!
