People, this is turning into a really fabulous discussion -- and one I think really deserves its own thread. Not least because in some ways it's running in parallel with recent discussions on the Explorations thread. Also, we've also rather got a long way from conversation about the dear boy himself (which is what this thread is supposed to focus on!).
So I'm going to do something a little unorthodox: I'm leaving intact everything posted here so far, but I've copied the relevant posts, along with the relevant discussion from Explorations, to a new Ambivalences thread. Could we please continue the current discussion of Stephenie's ambivalences, Christian commitments, attitude to immortality etc. on the NEW thread? Specifically Edward-oriented comments can still go here, if you wish.
Thanks so much. And can I just say....wow, what a really amazing, insightful, thought-provoking discussion!

Re: Edward Cullen #6
Trying to return this post to Edward Cullen ...
You know, I really wish that I was suited to Edward myself, personally. But I've come to the conclusion that we have too many of the same faults for me ever to really lay claim to him. We do have a lot in common, but I think, if I had been in Bella's shoes, a relationship between us probably wouldn't have worked.
I'm happily married anyway! (Hubby's sitting not too far away, so I thought I'd better add that! And it's true! )

It's a bit early, I know. But, as my day tomorrow is quite full, I thought I would stop by and leave my absolute best wishes for Edward&Bella on their anniversay tomorrow. In the end, the one thing that matters is that they both said, "I do." (Sorry, I always cry at weddings.)
